A memorable few days...

I have some big news which I will reveal next week!!! More on that later

Today was a great day. I got to spend some time with Bernie and Joao and then with Sampo... Bernie and I went to school together in Bruxelles and Sampo and I went to school together back in 1990 in China...

Talking to them you identify that they are going through the same as you are. They are "your kind of people". They have been through the same as you! They think the same as you! I am reading an extremely interesting book that Anne bought me called TCK.. Third Culture Kids and I'd recommend it to anyone with our background..!!! The conversation I had today lifted me up... It's quite incredible... we go through the same things. . . the same ideas and difficulties with parents, friends, society, interviewers, boyfriends, girlfriends, taxi drivers... whom ever!!! Most TCK's don't know they are TCKs...

Ok... moving on...

How many people in London actually LIVE in London?

Ok... so you might not understand the question. Here it is again. How many people truly live here.. Year... after year... call it their home.. and how many people consider London their Temporary accomodation. Their temporary location... imagine a city where more than 65% of people know they won't live here for the rest of their lives... imagine how that effects a person. Think of a world where the majority of people who live here realise they can get a higher quality of living (in certain respects) elsewhere.... The same people realise that they can only get the certain "quality of life" that London offers, in cosmopolitan cities like this... there are more things happening, more creativity, more passion, desire, drive, ambition, hunger, ability, strength and weakness here than anywhere in the world....!!! But I get back to the question... how many people actually live in London and consider it their home... and how many people consider it their Home away from home!!!

Where ever you live now... think about this... where do you live? Is it home? By answering that question, I have an easier way of classifying/categorising you!!!!

I'll leave you this saturday evening with something I might have posted before.. but here it is again...

Professions to avoid!!!

I would like to warn you that these are my opinions and might offend some. In no means does it mean that I think everyone in these professions are evil but I can only speak from my experience.

As a sales guy... who makes a lot of cold calls, I can understand that people think that I'm annoying. I realise people might say Sales is a profession to avoid!!! I understand all this, but I don't believe that I am rude or annoying when I call people and hence I'd like to point out two professions I've had quite a bit of hassle with...

Let me start with the most unfriendliest and annoying people I've ever spoken to...

ESTATE AGENTS!!!

REALLY DISLIKE them...I have never spoken to a profession who are so rude and downright unfriendly as Estate Agents. There's a cockiness and a irritating nature that really really really gets me going!!!

I've been calling estate agents trying to discuss IT support with them. Literally I have never gotten so many hangups. They are totally not interested in listening to anything anyone says. The tone they take is extremely rude.

On top of the experience I have had calling them, I can say that my experience of using them, they have a feeling that they run the world... They know best! So yea, I've added another thing to my dislike most in the world...

The next one is a little more controversial I reckon...

Recruiters
I don't know what it is... they lie, they twist the truth, they are extremely persistent, they use your emotions against you.

When I've been calling Recruiters, they can put on a fantastically friendly voice, but they lie, and it's so easy to see. I prefer their way of handling sales calls than estate agents at least...

Recruiters though basically trade in humans. They have an extremely tough job, don't get me wrong but there is something about the way they are that irritates me.

Having said that, I have also met and spoken to a number of recruiters who are EXTREMELY friendly and DAMN good at what they do... Obviously they are like sales people in that they earn commission on every person they place... still... there's a big gap between good and bad!

Now next week I'm going to be trying to call Modelling Agencies.. I'll give you an update on whether they are any better!!!

I've got a song that I've found that really epitimises how I feel right now!!! It's not my typical type of music. It's a remix of a Jason Timberlake song called My Love. But it has nothing to do with the actual song.. it's the beat that they've put on it... If you fast forward to around 1.00-1.30 you'll hear the beat I mean.

What I like about it is that it sounds so DETERMINED! It feels like a freight train that's just going to get through whatever obstacles are in the way!!! It's got a powerful feel to it!!!

In other news... I'm going to Sweden for Easter!! Arriving on the 31st March (Wednesday) and leaving on Monday 5th April. Managed to plan it for a weekend where the majority of my friends are out of town... a bit typical but it will be nice to just take it easy as well... to be able to relax in Skanör a bit and spend some quality time with Anne.

Busy busy Busy

Mycket att göra...

Lots to do!!!

Muchos to do-os...

Vielen zu tun...!!!

Seems like there are periods in ones life when one is confronted by a number of really important decisions... when it's difficult to know what to do... so much happening that you kinda feel like you are flowing with the tide... but you are swimming so hard in any direction just hoping that you'll grab a hold of that thing that will lead you to safety...

London is Stress... London is hectic... London makes you wake up wondering what the hell you are worried about... London makes you grow old faster than you want to... London craves a lot of you.... London makes you work for it... London makes you work some more... LONDON makes you work a little more than that...

Once you've worked, and worked and worked, London can give you back a lot... a HELL OF A LOT... moer than most places... but it requires being out of your comfort zone... REALLY out of your comfort zone... testing the outer limits of your psyche, your mental strength, your physical strength...

London requires an untouchable optimism... thinking negatively about the city for just a bit of time allows London to Swallow you... the lowest lows of London are no fun... the Highest highs of London are incredible... it's a lot like Sales... it's one absolutely CRAZY roller coaster, it's like Swedish weather, the fact that you love summer so much is that Winter is sooo damn cold.. and for those living in Skåne, WINDY... London is much the same, you go through your tough spells, hairpulling sessions...

What London does give you though is a strength that you are not aware you have whe you are at the lowest points... Life is too short to stress, but life is also too short to go without challenges, to not test yourself... London swallows you, but London can also spit you high up in the air...

Winter has been, the rain will still come but I feel that summer is on its way... it has to be...

BE BRAVE!!! ENJOY!!! MAKE THE MOST OF IT!!! One day you might look back when things are boring, mundane and uneventful and express a joy that you have been through a raging fire... and return, albeit with scars, a stronger, happier and more determined person.

London...
